Eggs for baby?!
EGGS!!! Ahhh--maybe you like them, maybe you don't, but either way take a listen..
Did you know that they recommend eating 2 eggs a day during pregnancy?! I am shocked to just be learning this now in the very late stages of my third pregnancy; however I"m totally stoked because we have chickens which means FRESH EGGS on the daily!
The Egg yolk is considered a brain food for your growing baby. Similar to fish oils, eggs are "an excellent source of special long-chain fatty acids called EPA and DHA, which play a vital role in the development of the nervous system in the infant."
Eggs are a fantastic source of nutrients needed for the growing baby to included: cholesterol, essential fatty acids, protein, calcium, iron and Vitamins A, D, E, and K. They also provide "sulphur-containing proteins, necessary for the integrity of cell membranes."
It is important to eat eggs from chickens that are free range, organic or grass fed though. Unfortently so many chickens today are pumped with hormones and antibiotics--we do not want to be pumping our body OR our babies bodies with anything like this!
